FAQ's
- Are you licensed?
We are licensed by the OCFS and follow all NY State rules and regulations.
- Are your teachers certified?
We only hire qualified teachers according to the stipulations of the OCFS. All staff members have been fingerprinted and background checked.
- What training is required for teachers?
We are CPR and First Aid certified. In addition, teachers are required to participate in 15 hours worth of professional training every year.
- Can you give medication?
Yes, we are licensed to dispense o.t.c. or prescription medication, use a nebulizer and e.p.i. pen.
- What is your security policy?
Upon enrollment parents are asked to submit a list of people who are permitted to pick up. Everyone is entered into our computer system and must log in and out. Photo I.D. is required.
- Do you serve meals?
We serve breakfast, lunch and two snacks. We only use whole wheat bread, fresh fruit, 100% juice and whole milk. We accommodate reasonable requests for special dietary needs and allergies.
- What ages do you accept?
We have age appropriate programs for children ages 6 weeks to 51/2 years.
- Do you charge extra for extended hours?
No, our rates are inclusive
- Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes, we offer a discount to siblings who are currently enrolled.
- Do you accommodate special needs children?
We are licensed as a "Well Care" facility, but we do make arrangements for children needing Speech, O.T. or Special Ed after they have received a state evaluation.
- Do you follow a curriculum?
We endorse "Creative Curriculum" which stresses Learn Through Play. Our age appropriate lesson plans encourage social, reading, science, math, physical and language skills.
- Do children go outside?
Yes, children go out twice per day if the weather is appropriate.
- Do you have class trips?
Yes we have at least five class trips per year.
- Do you have parent conferences?
Yes we do an assessment of each child upon enrollment and have two parent conferences per year.
- Do you have a summer program?
Yes, we stress outdoor activities, have picnics, play in the sprinkler and work on our garden.
- Do you follow the Public School calendar?
No, We are only closed for the major holidays, and two teacher's prep days per year.
